AUDIO
Jess Cooper has studied a Bachelor of Audio Production at SAE Institute Sydney, learning from industry professionals such as Paul McKercher (Producer), Ben Feggans, Oscar Gaona and Mark McKinnon-Bassett (Mastering Engineers). During this period Jess has had experience in recording, mixing and mastering a variety of musical styles and instruments in studios 301, Megaphon Studios, The Lab (Level 7), The Conservatorium of Music (University of Sydney) and SAE Studios Sydney as well as recording sound on location with a portable rig. Jess has spent 6 weeks travelling through Nepal and India recording musicians in their home towns with Greg Simmons, founder of Audio Technology Magazine. Jess has become a firm believer in keeping a positive and creative vibe in the studio. Being a musician herself, she has an understanding of the musician’s role in the recording studio and is skilled in motivating musicians to perform at their best.
Jess is currently working at The Sonic Factory, a recording studio in Sydney as well as freelance Mastering and Mixing in her own time. As well as her work as a sound engineer Jess is one of the guitarists and vocalists of the band, Polar Knights.
VISUAL
Jess is currently studying an advanced diploma of 3D art, specialising in game art at the Academy of Interactive Entertainment. Combining this with her work as a sound engineer she hopes to create audio/visual experiences in a less lame sounding way! She has made a solo 3D short film called, Brain Pain, as well as working in groups to create environments.
She has a good knowledge of several programs used to create 3D art such as Maya, Mudbox, ZBrush, XNormal, 3D Coat, dDo, nDo, After Effects, Premiere, Unity, UDK and Photoshop.
